Nizar Qabbani – The Actors & The Interrogation – Signed First Edition 1968

A rare signed first edition of this collection of verse by the Syrian poet Nizar Qabbani, inscribed to the Egyptian actress Ayida El Sherif.

Published in 1968, it was written after the Arab defeat in the 1967 war and formed part of the author’s shift towards more political and satirical work, and away from the purely romantic theme of his earlier poetry.

This edition was issued as a one-off collection, although the two extended poems it contains were later included in his ‘Complete Political Works’ compilation.

Published in Beirut by Nizar Qabbani Publications. Softback, with pictorial card covers. Externally the book has creases and wear, internally it is clean and bright with no stamps or annotations. 46 pages.

Signed and inscribed by Nizar Qabbani to the opening page to Ayida El Sherif, an Egyptian actress who featured in a number of television and cinematic roles in the 1960s.

في الأعمال السياسية الكاملة لنزار قباني. الديوان مؤلف من 46 صفحة بحجم الجيب وغلاف ورقي موقع ومهدى بخط نزار. لا يوجد أي علامات أو أختام أو تشطيبات على الديوان من الداخل. ولكن علامات القدم والطعجات ظاهرة على الغلاف الخارجي الأمامي
