Mahmoud Darwish – Attempt Number 7 – First Edition 1974

A rare first edition of this 1974 collection of verse by the Palestinian poet Mahmoud Darwish, entitled “Attempt Number 7,” published by Dar Al-Adab in Beirut.

This particular example bears a signature and dedication from the owner and founder of Dar Al-Adab, Suhayl Idris, one of the most prominent Arab literary figures of the time. It is addressed to the Syrian literary critic Professor Youssef al-Youssef,  with the publisher’s regards.

The poems are considered among Darwish’s more mature works.

Softback, 176 pages. In good condition externally. Various comments and notes to contents by the previous owner.
