Racine – Complete Works – First Arabic translation

Dhs7,500

This is the first Arabic edition of the complete works of French playwright Racine, one of the towering dramatists of 17th-century France.

It was published in Cairo in 1968 by the “Arab League” publishing house, under the supervision of Taha Hussein, and is now very rare thanks to the small print run that was originally made. The book includes plays such as Phèdre, Andromaque and Britannicus, all examples of Racine’s tragic masterpieces.

It is presented as a four-volume paperback set, with distinctive colourful covers.

The books are in good condition overall, but show some signs of age and wear to the exterior,  with rubbing and creasing to spines. Contents are clean with no writing or markings.
