Vladimir Nabokov – Lolita – First English Edition 1959

A first trade edition of Nabokov’s controversial novel, printed in London in 1959.

The very first copies of the book were printed in two softcover volumes in Paris in 1955, and then banned by the French government a year later.

Hardback, with original dust jacket, not price-clipped. Published by Weidenfeld and Nicholson. In good condition. Creasing to top and bottom of jacket cover, and to extremities of jacket spine. Small tear to top of jacket rear.  Clean and bright inside with no inscriptions, none of the usual spotting.
