A superb, large-format illustrated edition of the Arabian Nights, or the One Thousand and One Nights, published in the 1860s, in a very attractive original binding.

With more than 200 B&W illustrations from various artists. Engraved by the Brothers Dalziel, one of the most prolific Victorian wood-engravers, who were established in London in the 1830s and worked with many prominent contemporary artists.

Features dozens of the classic tales, including Aladdin, Sindbad the Sailor, Ali Baba, and more.

Bound in green half calf with marbled boards and text block. Five raised bands to the decorative spine, with gilt lettering against a red leather panel. Marbled endpapers. In very good condition; minor rubbing externally, very small bookseller’s ticket to front endpaper.  822 pages. 27cm x 20cm.

Published by Ward, Lock in London. Not dated, but approximately 1865. Rare in such good condition with the original binding.
