The complete verse by the English poet Rupert Brooke, best-known for his idealistic sonnets from the First World War.
Brooke first established his public reputation as a poet as a result of the publication of Poems, in 1911. He finalised this in a burst of energy at the end of 1911, at the same time as he was writing his fellowship dissertation for King’s College, Cambridge.
This collection is divided chronologically into two sections, 1905-11 and 1911-14.
Hardback, with the original jacket, not price-clipped. Thick-cut paper with untrimmed edges. Tipped-in portrait of Brooke opposite title page, with tissue guard. In very good condition, some age toning to jacket. Neat previous owner’s inscription inside.
First edition, seventh printing, published in 1935 by Sidgwick and Jackson.
