Text translated from the original Bengali by the author. With an introduction by W.B. Yeats.
Gitanjali remains amongst Tagore’s best-known and most acclaimed collections, and roughly translates into English as ‘Song Offerings’/
Published in 1921 by Macmillan in London, a later printing of the March 1913 first impression. Hardback, bound in blue cloth, in very good condition. Gilt lettering and border to front cover still bright and clear. No writing inside. Binding tight and square.
With a cut-out newspaper portrait of the author, presumably from the 1920s. Rare to find such an early printing in this condition.
