 A large original lithograph map of Asia, from 1871, with hand-colour.

Shows the full extent of the continent, stretching from the Arabian Peninsula in the west to Japan and Korea in the east, also including most of south-east Asia. Detailed naming of settlements, rivers, seas and other geographical features.

Engraved by Alexander Johnston for “The Royal Atlas of Modern Geography exhibiting, in a series of entirely original and authentic maps, the present condition of geographical discovery and research in the several countries, empires and states of the world”, published by William Blackwood and Sons, Edinburgh and London.

Overall sheet measures 490mm x 620mm. In very good condition, with light toning, fold to centre.
