A highly decorative steel-engraved map of southern Italy. Drawn and engraved for John Tallis by John Rapkin and was published in ‘The life and Times of the Late Duke of Wellington’, by Thomas Gaspey, in 1854. Previously published in Tallis’s ‘The Illustrated Atlas’.
The map is contained within a decorative border and is illustrated with several finely engraved vignettes depicting Benevento, Naples and Vesuvius, The Carnival, and the Festival of the Village.
Outline hand coloured, approximately 320mm x 240mm. In very good condition.
Sold mounted on a dark green border.
