A whimsical collection of verse on oil, written by the former UAE Minister of Petroleum, Mana Saeed Al Otaiba (1946-).
Al Otaiba held the presidency of OPEC multiple times in the 1970s and 1980s, as well as senior advisory positions in the UAE government.
His poems from the early 1980s covered the themes of petroleum, oil prices, key figures in the industry, and more, while he also authored numerous other books of history, economics, regional politics and the UAE, including The Economy of Abu Dhabi, Ancient and Modern.
Many of the poems in this collection were written at or on the way to OPEC meetings at its headquarters in Vienna.
