[SOLD] Khalil Gibran – The Earth Gods / Prose Poems / The Garden of the Prophet – First Edition Set
A superb and rare set of three first editions by the Lebanese-American writer and scholar Khalil Gibran, all published in the early 1930s by Alfred Knopf in New York.
Comprises:
- The Earth Gods (1931). In very good condition. Hardback cloth boards with thick-cut paper, clear gilt lettering to front cover. Contemporary gift inscription dated 1936 to the front free endpaper. With 12 B&W illustrations by the author.
- Prose Poems (1934). In very good condition, as above, with neat gift inscription dated 1936. With five illustrations by the author.
- The Garden of the Prophet (1933). A collection of parables that follow on from the author’s best-known work, The Prophet, which was published ten years earlier. Features the same central character of Al Mustafa.
All are first impressions of the first editions.
