Jane Austen – Pride and Prejudice – 1914

An early illustrated edition of Jane Austen’s classic romance and social comedy, first published in 1813.

One of the best-loved novels of all time, it has been adapted multiple times for the big and small screen.

This is a 1914 printing of the 1895 edition by Macmillan, with the well-known illustrations by the English artist Charles Brock, whose work features in many of Austen’s novels from the late 1800s onwards.

Hardback, bound in the original red cloth with pebbled boards, and gilt titles in a box.  With B&W sketches throughout the text.

In good condition. Some fading to the top of the front board, a little wear and rubbing externally. Contemporary gift inscription to front endpaper. Some spotting to early pages. 351 pages.
