A finely-bound 1874 collection of verse by the  American poet Henry Longfellow (1807-1882), best-known for his poems Paul Revere’s Ride, The Song of Hiawatha, and Evangeline.

With numerous full-page illustrations, and a portrait of the author opposite the colour title page.

Bound in full light-brown calf with gilt borders, decorative spine with raised bands and gilt lettering against a black compartment. Marbled endpapers. 640 pages.

Published by William P. Nimmo in Edinburgh in 1874, part of its ‘Popular Poets’ series.  In very good condition. Some rubbing to spine and corners. Clean inside with no writing or marking.
