The classic depiction of Sicilian society and aristocracy in the late 1800s. Regularly cited as one of the best historical novels ever-written, the book was first published in Italian in 1958 and later made into an award-winning 1963 Luchino Visconti film starring Burt Lancaster, Claudia Cardinale and Alain Delon.

This is a first edition, first printing published by Collins Harvill in 1960. Distinctive for its beautiful cover design by German artist Hans Tisdall (1910-1997).

In very good condition, without inscriptions. In a very good dust wrapper which is unclipped and has some chipping to the edges and corners. Colours unusually vibrant and bright. Some spotting to text block and early pages.
