A superb signed first edition of Wilfred Thesiger’s autobiography, published in 1987.

Thesiger was one of the great explorers and travel writers of the 20th century, best-known for his journeys around the Empty Quarter of the Arabian Peninsula in the 1940s, which produced the acclaimed Arabian Sands in 1959. He also lived and travelled widely in Iraq, Kenya, Ethiopia and other areas.

His memoir tells the story of an extraordinary life, from his childhood and education in England to fighting in the Second World War and then exploring some of the most remote and fascinating areas on earth.

Signed by the author to the title page, with no other dedication or note.
