A superb first edition of the Lang version of the Arabian Nights, published in 1898.

Contains stories including Aladdin, Sindbad the Sailor and many others. With illustrations by well-known artist and illustrator Henry Justice Ford (1860-1941), who worked on a range of other Lang books, including the Fairy Books.

Handsomely bound in red calf, with gilt decorative raised spine, school crest and decorative edges to front cover. Marbled front and rear endpapers and text block.

Frontispiece and 32 plates of B&W illustrations throughout the text. No previous owner’s names, inscriptions or bookplates inside. Very small and faint bookseller stamp to inside top of first page. Contents very clean with occasional minor spotting and foxing.
