Sultan Bin Muhammad Al-Qasimi – My Early Life / The Consolidation Years – Signed and Inscribed

Rare signed first editions of two memoirs by the Ruler of Sharjah, Sultan Bin Muhammad Al-Qasimi (1939-), both inscribed to the President of the American University in Sharjah (AUS).

My Early Life is the first part of Al-Qasimi’s autobiography, describing the period before he became Ruler at the age of 33, in 1972, after the assassination of his brother.

The Consolidation Years: 1979-1987 is the third part, describing the key political, economic and social events in the Emirate during the 1980s.

Both books are signed and dedicated to Thomas Hochstettler, a US academic who held several senior roles at AUS from 2009 to 2014, including Provost, Professor and Acting Chancellor.

Al-Qasimi is a prolific author, having written at least 80 books, including works on regional maritime history, novels, theatrical plays and more. He also holds the role of President of AUS.
