[SOLD] Samuel W. Baker – The Albert Nyanza Great Basin of the Nile – 1888

The 1888 edition of this travel and exploration work on the sources of the Nile in East Africa.

Baker, an explorer, became the first European to visit Lake Albert and give it its name. This is his account of the journey and his meetings with local people.  One of the classic Victorian travelogues, first published in 1864.

Published by Macmillan in London. In very good condition. Green cloth with inlaid cover and gilt lettering on spine. Binding tight and square.  School bookplate, dated 1896, pasted to inside front cover. Occasional spotting to early and final pages. Otherwise clean inside.
