[SOLD] Rubaiyat of Omar Khayyam – 1898

A rare edition of the Rubaiyat, with an English translation of the poem plus various other sections including a facsimile of the original manuscript from the Bodleian Library, a translation into modern Farsi with notes, and an extended introduction.

Translated into English by Edward Heron-Allen, who also authored the other sections, which include notes on Edward Fitzgerald’s famous translation of the verse.

One of just 1,000 copies printed in 1898 by H.S. Nichols in London. Second printing of this edition.

Hardback, with Farsi lettering and decorative motifs to front and rear boards, and English lettering to the spine. 320 pages, printed on rough-cut paper.  Illustrated throughout with images of the original manuscript and other notes.

In good+ condition. Crack to top of spine and rubbing to spine edges. Boards generally clean. No writing or markings inside. Binding tight.
