[SOLD] Palestine photograph album – 1920s

A charming album of black-and-white photographs of Palestine, dating from around the 1920s, housed in olive wood covers.

Contains 60 photographs, mostly sized 9cm x 6.5cm, with some slightly larger. All have been pasted in on black paper, with handwritten notes and captions.

Depicts places in Jerusalem, Bethlehem and other key sites in the area, as well as several from Cairo.

A range of similar albums were produced from the late 1910s onwards, generally in Jerusalem, but most tend to be smaller and with pressed flowers and images. This example is more unusual for its size and the fact it contains images.

Internally very clean and bright. Externally there is a horizontal crack along the front wooden board, which has caused slight warping, but the case remains intact and firm.

Sized 26cm x 18cm when folded.
