Naguib Mahfouz – Palace of Desire – First English Edition 1991

The first English-language edition of the second novel in the Cairo Trilogy series of books, written by the Egyptian author Naguib Mahfouz.

It follows Palace Walk, and is completed in Sugar Street. All three books were later adapted for the big screen. English translations of Mahfouz’s novels only became widely available from the late 1980s, with the author being awarded the 1988 Nobel Prize for Literature.
