Khalil Gibran – The Garden of the Prophet – 1933

AED800

A very well-preserved early printing of The Garden of the Prophet, the follow-up to The Prophet, which was published in 1933 shortly after the Lebanese-American writer’s death.

It contains a collection of parables that follow on from the author’s best-known work, which was published ten years earlier.  Features the same central character of Al Mustafa, with numerous black and white sketch illustrations by the author.

Published by Alfred Knopf in New York in November 1933. First edition, third printing. Bound in black cloth with a decorative motif to the front cover and gilt lettering to cover and spine. In very good condition indeed. Gilt lettering all bright and sharp. Previous owner’s inscription to front pastedown, dated 1936. Otherwise clean inside. Binding tight and square.
