A rare first printing of Khalil Gibran’s longest book, published in 1928, which views Jesus through the eyes of 77 different contemporaries who knew him, including Romans, Syrians, priests and poets.
Gibran wrote the work between 1926 and 1927 in New York, several years after completing The Prophet. It also includes a number of his own sketches and illustrations interspersed between the text.
This is the first UK edition of the book, published simultaneously with the first US edition in 1928. Hardback, published by William Heinemann in London. In very good condition. Bound in black cloth, gilt lettering and motif to cover, still clear and unrubbed. Neat contemporary owner’s name to front free endpaper. Small chip to edge of spine.
