[SOLD] Khalil Gibran – Jesus: The Son of Man – 1928 First Edition

A rare first printing of Khalil Gibran’s longest book, published in 1928, which views Jesus through the eyes of 77 different contemporaries who knew him, including Romans, Syrians, priests and poets.

Gibran wrote the work between 1926 and 1927 in New York, several years after completing The Prophet. It also includes a number of his own colour and black-and-white illustrations interspersed between the text.

This is the first printing of the first US edition of the book, published by Alfred Knopf in New York 1928. Hardback, bound in black cloth, gilt lettering and motif to cover. Faint line mark on front board, otherwise very good indeed externally. Clean inside with no writing or bookplates. 218 pages.
