A beautifully-illustrated 1870s French edition of Verne’s classic travel adventure, which sees Phileas Fogg and Passpartout attempt to traverse the globe in record time.
This is a very early printing of the novel, which was first published in 1872. With numerous wood-engraving illustrations by De Neuville and Benett.
Published in Paris by J. Hetzel. Not dated, but approximately mid-1870s.
Hardback, in a later binding of grey boards over a black morocco spine. In fair condition. Heavy bumps and loss to corners of boards, a tear to the top left front board. Bumps to spine ends. Dent to the rear board. Internally, neat previous owner’s inscription. Some spotting throughout, heavier to early pages, but contents generally good. Binding tight and square. 218 pages.
