An instalment in the popular satirical adventure series of novels that were originally set in Persia, centring around the character of Hajji Baba.

This book sees the eponymous hero in London, visiting prominent locations and meeting members of the Royal Family.

The author had been a British diplomat in Iran in the 1800s and wrote the books after retiring. They became very popular in the period and were later adapted for the big screen.

With an illustrated frontispiece opposite the title page, separated by tissue guard. 342 pages.

Hardback, published in 1850 by Richard Bentley in London. Revised and updated edition. Bound in quarter brown calf with marbled endpapers, text block and boards. Decorative spine with raised bands and lettering against coloured compartments. In good+ condition. Some rubbing to corners. Contemporary owner’s inscription to title page. Binding tight and square.
