The first book in this popular satirical adventure series of novels that were originally set in Persia, centring around the character of Hajji Baba.

The author had been a British diplomat in Iran in the 1800s and wrote the books after retiring. They became very popular in the period and were later adapted for the big screen.

This is an 1897 edition, published by Lawrence and Bullen in London. Hardback, bound in red cloth with gilt decoration and lettering. In fair condition. Some staining, rubbing and bumps externally. Clean inside with no writing.

With an illustrated frontispiece opposite the title page, separated by tissue guard.
