A large-format illustrated edition of The Iliad, the epic ancient Greek poem attributed to Homer.

One of the oldest surviving pieces of literature, dating from the 7th or 8th century BC, the work is divided into 24 sections. it follows events in the final days of the Trojan War and the central characters of Hector, Achilles and Agamemnon.

This is a 1962 printing using a translation by Richmond Lattimore. With 49 full-page black-and-white illustrations by Leonard Baskin, including one to the front cover.

In very good condition.  Hardback, bound in red buckram with gilt lettering to spine. No jacket.  A few marks and minor rubbing to boards. Clean inside with no writing. Binding tight and square. 526 pages.
