[SOLD] Gerald de Gaury – Arabia Phoenix – 1947

Subtitled “An Account of a Visit to Ibn Saud, Chieftain of the Austere Wahhabis and Powerful Arabian King”.

The author was British Political Agent in Kuwait in the 1930s, and wrote several books on the region. Arabia Phoenix describes Riyadh in the mid-1940s and gives a profile of Ibn Saud, founder of the modern-day kingdom.

Foreword by Freya Stark, with 64 black-and-white photographs.

In very good condition. Original jacket unclipped jacket, with some spotting and minor edgewear. No markings or inscriptions inside. Hardback, published in 1947 by Harrap in London. First edition, second impression of the original 1946 issue.
