[SOLD] Gandhi – The Story of My Experiments with Truth – First Edition 1949

A rare first British edition of Gandhi’s autobiography, covering the period of his early life up to 1921.

It was first published in Gujarati, appearing in instalments in the Navjivan journal between 1925 to 1929, before being translated in the late 1940s and issued as a single book.

It describes his childhood and parents, school and family life, early travels, and his time in South Africa before returning to India. It also discusses his own spirituality, religion and way of life.

The book was published in 1949, two years after India formally gained independence, with Gandhi now hugely prominent on the international stage.
