An original signed black-and-white photograph of Charlie Chaplin (1889-1977) the acclaimed comic actor and filmmaker of the silent era.
With an original letter from The Chaplin Studios, in Hollywood, dated June 1952 on the company’s official headed paper, presenting the photograph to a theatre in Birmingham. The letter was written and signed by Harry Crocker, a personal assistant to Chaplin who appeared in several of his films in the 1930s and 1940s and also co-directed several, including City Lights.
At the time of this photograph, Crocker was working as Public Relations director for Chaplin’s 1952 movie Limelight, which is cited in the letter.
Signed to the bottom-left of the portrait in white pen. Mounted in silver and black. Overall size 28cm x 32cm, photo sized 22cm x 17cm. In very good condition, a small crack on the left of the photo.
