[SOLD] The Authentic Arabian Horse and Its Descendants – Lady Wentworth – 1945 First Edition

A rare first edition of one of the finest equestrian books, extremely hard to find with the original jacket.

Lady Wentworth (Anne Blunt) was the co-founder of the Crabbet Arabian Stud in England, and one of the foremost authorities on Arabian horse breeds.

Totalling some 400 pages, the book contains 213 photos and drawings, including 39 in colour. It features histories, descriptions, bloodlines, anatomy, training, sales prices, race results and more, covering a range of Egyptian and Arabian breeds.

An essential volume for any serious collector of equestrian books, the title was reissued in several later editions. This original issue was intended to be published before the Second World War but was delayed due to a lack of suitable paper.

Published by G. Allen & Unwin Ltd, London, 1945.

Full title: The Authentic Arabian Horse and his descendants. Three Voices Concerning the Horses of Arabia, Tradition (Nejd, Inner East) – Romantic Fable (Islam) – The Outside World of the West.
