[SOLD] Julian Walker – Tyro on the Trucial Coast
A fascinating and rare account of the Trucial States in the early 1950s by a young British diplomat who was posted to the area at a crucial time.
Walker travelled widely around the region and interacted with many of its leading figures, providing an interesting insight into the relations between different emirates and families, as well as border disputes.
Features numerous black and white photographs of landscapes, buildings and people, as well as a who’s who guide to the key local and international figures of the time.
Issued in small numbers and not commonly available, this is a valuable addition to any collection of books on the emergence of the modern UAE.
Published by The Memoir Club in Durham in 1999. Hardback, in very good condition. Original unclipped jacket. Stain to bottom of jacket rear. No writing or inscriptions inside.
