A beautifully-bound and presented 1906 edition of The Iliad, the epic ancient Greek poem attributed to Homer.

One of the oldest surviving pieces of literature, dating from the 7th or 8th century BC, the work is divided into 24 sections. it follows events in the final days of the Trojan War and the central characters of Hector, Achilles and Agamemnon.

This is a 1906 printing of the 1882 edition by Macmillan in London, using the translation by Lang, Leaf and Myers.

Bound in full tree calf with gilt borders to front and rear boards. Decorative spine with five raised bands and gilt motifs, with lettering over black and red compartments. Marbled endpapers and text block.

In very good condition indeed. Binding tight and square. No writing or inscriptions internally. Externally almost no noticeable issues. A fantastic book.
