A rare signed first edition of the acclaimed autobiography by the influential Palestinian-American academic Edward Said, best-known for his seminal 1978 work Orientalism.

Out of Place tells the story of his childhood and upbringing, with the title reflecting his sense of rootlessness and conflicted identity.

Hardback, published by Alfred A. Knopf in New York in 1999. First edition, first printing. In very good condition indeed, light shelf wear only and a sticker to front cover showing ‘Autographed for University Bookstore’ of Seattle and Bellevue, Washington. Original dust jacket, not price-clipped.
