Bertram Thomas was the first non-Arab to cross the Empty Quarter of southern Arabia, travelling from Salalah in Oman to Doha in Qatar in 1930, predating Wilfred Thesiger by around 15 years.

This volume recounts his journey, along with insights into the region’s geography, natural history and society at the time. Foreword by T.E. Lawrence.
