[SOLD] Arabia According to Modern Divisions (1744)
Map of Arabia “according to modern divisions” with parts of Iran and North Africa, from Samuel Dunn’s ‘New Atlas or Mundane System of Geography’, printed in London, 1774.
Some inaccuracies (e.g. no Qatar), but the map includes many regional features including Julfar and Dubai Creek (shown as a river), as well as “Mountains of the Moon and Mountains producing the Frankincense” in Yemen, and other mountains and rivers.
Major towns and cities shown in Saudi Arabia (Mecca, Medina, Ahsa, Najran, Qatif), Yemen (Sanaa, Taiz, Aden, Socatra), Oman (Muscat), Iraq (Basra, Baghdad, and shrines), Egypt and the Holy Land.
Very good condition. B&W with some hand-colouring.
